Q Objective: Upon completion of this assignment, you will be able to use the "talking to the text" reading strategy. Instructions: 1. Watch the SSTC Workshop: Reading Strategies for STEM Courses (Links to an external site.) (Specifically, 34:00 - end) 2. Download to your computer, make a copy to your Google Drive account or print a copy of the Nomenclature Cheat Sheet. (Links to an external site.) 3. If you cannot print out the document, either upload your document into Office 365 (use your Merced College email to log in) or make a copy to your Google Drive account and utilize a pdf annotation tool to complete the assignment. 4. Talk to the text on the Nomenclature Cheat Sheet. 5. After completing the exercise respond to the prompts below. 6. Look at everyone's questions/concerns and respond to at least two classmate's posts. You will be working with your Reading History group again. I will be monitoring the discussion, and will answer all unanswered questions/concerns after the due date. 1. While talking to the text, it felt like I could concentrate on my thoughts and write them down in my notebook to get a visual of the material. When I tend to write it down and say it aloud, it seems to stick better to my brain. I believe it helped me understand it more and get less distracted.
